The Dark Suit Of Pens Montblanc By jb_shops on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
Everyone needs a nice writing instrument for special occasions, much like every man needs a dark suit for an interview or a funeral or every lady needs a little black dress. A writing instrument not a cheap disposable Bic. This Montblanc roller ball pen falls in this category.
When you buy a Montblanc you are buying a label. A person can quickly identify a Montblac product by the six pointed star (with rounded edges). It looks like a snow cap on a mountain peak. This branding is distinctive like Nike's & Tommy Hilfiger's
Pen Details: This pen is a fine tipped roller ball that is made from a plastic resin. Mine is burgundy, but I believe they no longer offer the color. Black is always an option. The rings and clips are gold plated. The rings have fine detailing.
So how does it write?: I said before you are buying a label. The refills don't last. If you use them everyday you are OK, but they seem to dry up quickly.
Conclusion: Since this was a gift I'm unsure of the exact cost, but I believe this goes for about $125. For that much money it ought to write outstandingly smooth and clear. So the pen is good for an interview, but I don't use it on the job. These are great graduation gift ideas.
I hear the ballpoint options are better.

Mont Blanc pens and writing instruments are the sine qua non of class and style. They make a statement about who you are when used in signing professional and business documents. I persnally love their fountain pens. The nibs produce an elegantly finished script, making them ideal when signing your life away:)
It is too bad that this pen does not perform as well as it looks! To me, the ink drying up inside the pen is not acceptable. Since froggy seems to like hers, perhaps your ink refill was just a freak thing and not a regular occurrence?
I love a good quality pen, but simply could not afford one of these, I lose pens too often ;).
These are nice pens. I have seen others use them, but I am personally a bit more practical and do not spend so much money on a pen. It does sound great, but will stick with cheaper models. Thanks for sharing the information.
My husband wants a good pen set. I just can't seem to make myself purchase something so expensive though, especially seeing how he would probably lose it on the first day lol.
