Meryl Streep is the almost likable fashion villain in the highly entertaining movie The Devil Wears Prada. She is the meticulously coiffed editor in chief of Runway Magazine with a huge collection of fur coats, designer bags and knowledge of anything and everything fashion related. She strikes fear in all her employees just by her mere presence, and has a reputation of torturing all her assistants. She finally meets someone, who is almost a match for her when a fashion challenged, Northwestgraduate, Andy (played wonderfully by Anne Hathaway) is hired as her new assistant. Andy, who aspires to be a hard hitting journalist, has absolutely no clue about the fashion industry and no desire to learn.I can really relate to Andys character because since I have had children, my fashion sense has really fallen by the wayside so i could really relate to her! The movie takes you on a funny but sad journey as Andy, in spite of herself, is swept up and slowlytransformed by the demanding world of Runway Magazine. Truthfully I found myself wondering if I should run out and buy a Chanel bag or something.I loved this movie and its slightly corny 'good prevails over fashions evil' ending. I highly recommend this movie!
