I was given this vacuum as a gift from my parents. My old vacuum was on its way out as it was approximately 12 years old. I had a canister vacuum where you had to put all the pieces together before you could vacuum and had wanted an upright for awhile. Once I started using the Dyson, I was so amazed at how well it really did pick up stuff, not just the stuff you see but the stuff you don't see. I couldn't believe how much dirt was in my carpeting. All of the attachments are right on the Dyson, you just attach it as you need it. The hose comes out and I can reach the ceiling, behind the couches with no effort at all. It has a switch on the front so you can do hardwood or tiled floors at the same time as you do your carpeting. There are no bags to change. You just push a button and the canister with all the stuff you vacuumed up comes right off, hold it over your garbage can and push another button and all that garbage just comes out. No need to clean anything. My sisters also have the same vacuum and we decided since we all loved it so much we would buy our parents one for Christmas last year and that was exactly what we did. Now they love it as much as we do.
