The Eddy Duchin Story By Mary on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

This DVD of the movie, " The Eddy Duchin Story " stars Tyrone Power as Eddy Duchin and Kim Novak plays his wife, Marjorie Oelrichs. It is a musical biography. This movie is presented by Columbia Pictures and is 123 minutes in length. The sound quality is excellent and the color is very clear and sharp. This movie takes place in New York city during the 1930s and 40s when the big bands, casinos and grand ballrooms were the rage. Eddy Duchin enjoyed immense popularity as a very talented piano player. However, his personal life was filled with tragedy when he loses his wife and is left with a newborn son. His life is not the same and he becomes somewhat depressed. Nevertheless, he carries on and the story continues with an interesting turn of events. The thing I especially loved about this movie was the beautiful music. It really touched my heart because the melodies were outstanding. I was told that Eddy Duchin went to the high school that was two blocks from where I grew up in Brooklyn. That was big news to me years ago. I loved this movie and I'm confident that this DVD will last for many years to come.
