The R 80 G/S is a 797 cc flat-twin, air-cooled boxer engined motorcycle. It began production back in 1980, to evolve in various model and designs, most of witch has proved greatly successfully, becoming something of an icon of its kind.The "G/S" refers to either Gelände/Straße (German for off-road/road) and brightly evidentiate the main charachteristic of this bike. It will go virtually everywhere without breaking down. Be aware that this bike weights something like 191kg, a very low weight for a big trail bike, but likely to be too much in comparison to modern monocilindric ones.
It drives like a dream. It's the most comfortable bike ever made. It's fun, fast and versatile.
The position while driving is fantastic, all your broke back problems are history!
It look may be a bit old, but it's lightweight compared to modern ones. Fully made in aluminium and metal, only plastic parts are the bumpers!
Engine's fantastic, and has a very low maintaining cost, as is consumption.

One little flaw: rear suspension is subjected to vibrations and the front one is considered by many too much soft, therefore a change for those who like to go round bumping is in option.
After 30 years, this bike is still a lot valuable on the market (topping 6000 euros for revisioned models) and is something every biker should try once in life.
