The God of Animals

This book was not as good as I expected it to be.I thought it was well written.The writer does a great job with her descriptions and I could really picture the story.Although it was well written, the story was lacking.Alice is a young girl who has to work at home, helping her father with all the horses.He trains and breaks them.Her mother is bedridden.I kept waiting for something to happen and it just never did.I thought something would happen with the mother or with her sister who ran away.The sister did return, but nothing great there.The mother got out of bed a couple of times, but nothing exciting there.

There was an accident at the end of the book, but big deal. The book opened with the story of a little girl who was found dead in the woods.I thought there would be more to that - maybe we would find out who killed her.Nope - nothing.The dead girl was used to show that Alice did not have any friends and told people this was her best friend, although they hardly knew each other.The book just was not dramatic enough.
