Goonies is a timeless tale of what happens when children pull together to save their homes and their families. Corey Feldman and Sean Astin play 2 members of the young cast who set out to find a treasure when they find the map in one of their attics. They figure this money can save their homes, which are destined to become a golf course when their parents can't pay the mortgages and the investors develop it. During the course of their search for treasure, they are tailed by the Fratelli clan, a family of escaped thieves.

I adore this movie and think it will never go out of rotation. Not only is it a tale of friendship and family, but it is filled with action and romance as well. And it has pirates, as the treasure the kids are searching for is a pirate's booty. It is an 80's classic that shows its age by its music and fashions but not by its central theme. The story is well done and the route the map takes them on is filled with booby traps and other adventures. I recommend this movie for children and adults alike - definitely a family favorite.
