The Holiday By buckeyefan on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

This is a long movie, but you will never notice it when you are watching "The Holiday." I never looked at the running time, which is 2 hours and 16 minutes, and I never noticed how much time went by until it was over because I loved this movie so much.

The casting was perfect in this movie- the four main characters are played by well-know actors Jude Law, Cameron Diaze, Kate Winslet and Jack Black. All 4 really embodied the characters they played to the point that I could not have imagined anyone else in their roles.

The basic story is that Diaz (Los Angeles) and Winslet (London) are both having relationship problems during the Christmas season, and when they find each other on the internet, decide to trade houses for 2 weeks to get some relaxation. The both live in quite different housing, and it is fun to see how each reacts to their new surroundings, and how they notice people and other things that the owner may have just taken for granted.

This movie has great insights into all sorts of relationships, and it truly boils down to a romantic comedy, with each of the girls finding love in unexpected places, but there are laughs and tears along the way. It really is a feel-good movie that I think men and women alike would both like. (Ok, mostly women, but I think you could convince the men to watch it with you.) I really loved this movie, and I am very glad I bought it.

Rated PG-13
