The Holiday By Cookiecrisp03 By cookiecrisp03 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I was pleasantly surprised by the movie The Holiday. Initially I was hesitant, thinking it would be a typical 'chick flick' as they say. But my wife really wanted to see it and with Jack Black starring in it, I figured I would at the very least get a few chuckles. I really enjoyed this story. Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet are two single ladies suffering from the same affliction, bad men, on two sides of the ocean. So they decide the solution to the problem is to flee. They exchange houses for the holiday. Iris (Winslet) ends up in Amanda's(Diaz) lap of luxury in LA. While Iris England nest is a little smaller and far cozier. Jack Blacks appearance wasn't a frequent as I would have liked, but he was still funny nonetheless. Winslet really made me laugh as she adjusted to the LA life. And Jude Law was pretty entertaining as Iris English brother who 'saves' Amanda(you knew there had to be some romance!). This movie did have a typical 'happily ever after' ending, but the store itself was funny and interesting to follow.
