The Invisible Ring By Cyn Bagley on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I am a voracious reader. Really. And one day, I will write just like Anne Bishop. She writes about sensuous, lush, vivid worlds with characters that seem real. The Invisible Ring is a continuation of her Black Jewels Trilogy.

In this world, the a few of the races have received jewels that accompany gifts of magic. In this world, there are queens who are guarded by warlord. And the court includes other gifts of magic that is supposed to nurture and care for the earth. However, by a leader of a long-lived race. Instead of allowing the warlords to protect, care, and nuture the queens, she has turned this dangerous men into slaves.

This upending of the civilization has consequences which cause man and women to war against each other.

In this book, Jared a red-jeweled warlord is bought as a pleasure slave by the Gray Lady. The slaves bought by the Gray lady disappear and are never found again. In this setting, Jared is scared and angry for his life until he finds out that the Gray Lady is saving the slaves.

There is a lot of action, a lot of walking, and a lot of character development. I have read this book over and over... I really enjoy it. Whenever, I need to escape to another fantasy world, I read Anne Bishop's books.
