The Jungle Book PLatinum Edition DVD
By SweetMeg214 onI'll be honest, growing up, Walt Disney's "The Jungle Book" was not among my favorite Disney movies.I barely remember watching it.Fast foward almost 20 years, and I hear that the 2-disc Platinum Edition is coming out.Of course I have to have it?Why, because 1)Its Disney and 2)I am ready to give it a second shot. This time around, I am in love with this movie. The characters are among the best in Disney storytelling. The animation isn't as jaw-dropping as say, Sleeping Beauty, but I can't get over the depth of the characters, and of course, their songs. This is the story of a young boy who is raised by wolves in the jungle, and his journey back to the man village. But it is really about so much more. The second DVD is packed with extras including deleted songs, a "Making of The Jungle Book" feature, and a special called "Disney's Kipling: Walt's Magic Touch On A Literally Classic."I especially enjoyed thislook into the movie because I am not very familiar with the original story.Kiplings series of short stories were very dark, moody and omnious. This is obviously a stark contrast to easy going Mowgli and happy-go-lucky Baloo.I really enjoyed learning about how Walt used his story telling to re-imagine the books.
