I have used a plain Microsoft optical mouse for years now. A while ago one of my friends bought a new laser mouse and exclaimed how great it was. Apparently, laser mice are better for gaming with. The mouse itself is fairly comfortable, but takes some getting used to. I admit, after playing a few games with it, I knew that it was a good mouse for gaming. However, I could tell no difference between this $45 laser mouse and my $11 optical mouse. I am some what of a perfectionist when it comes to getting the best experience in a game, but I could tell no obvious difference at all between the two.

All in al I do not recommend this mouse. I would just buy a $10-$25 mouse that has the best comfort. I know that I will be using my "old" mouse for many years to come.
