The Light Of Eidon By Karen Hancock By Rancosto on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

"The Light of Eidon" begins one of the best Christian fantasy series out there. I started reading it and I couldn't stop, amazed at everything - world-building, storyline, the protagonist, and the spiritual message. This well-crafted story begins with a soon-to-be monk discovering that his esteemed mentor might have had hidden motives, and the religion he has dedicated his life to may not be true. That's a powerful start, especially for Christian fiction. A devoted monk losing faith?? Yes. And much, much more. The adventures that follow include captivity, slavery, brutal gladiator training & fights, romance, war, spiritual search.

The writing is solid, mature, and engaging. The cover is a bit too cheesy for my taste, but hey, it's the story that counts, especially keeping in mind that authors have next to zero control over what goes on the book cover these days.
