The Nintendo 64
By LordKevin onThe Nintendo 64,is Nintendo's answer to the Sony Playstation & the Sega Saturn. It has 64bit graphics,2 times the bits of the Playstation & Saturn. When it was announced I literally pooped my pants,I thought,"Mario in 3D?Count me in!"The main difference from the N64 to its competitors, was the fact that it used the more expensive cartridges than the much more cheaper CD.
The system's color schemes were very similiar to the old iMacs, clear colorful plastic. The system was much more curved and sleeker than the more boxy SNES.The controller, don't get me started, the controller was strange, when I first got it,I didn't even know the proper way to hold it!It was also the first controller to have a analog stick.
The game selection, while not as good as the SNES's,was still pretty good. The system lacked RPGs and true fighting games(Super Smash Bros. doesn't count),so for you RPG gamers and Fighting lovers, the N64 is not for you,but if you're looking for a system that has great platformers, amazing adventure games and racing fun,the N64 got you covered.
Games for the N64 were very expensive,I remembered paying about $80 for Megaman Legends while it was about $40 on the playstation.
The system's graphics, are not mind blowing, even though it had more bits than the playstation, games didn't look much better.Infact, some games looked worse, due the N64's horrible textures.
Overall, the N64,while it won't satisfy your need for RPGs and Fighters,it will fully satisfy you with its amazing platfomers, adventure games.and racing games.
