The North Face Elkhorn Sleeping Bag By Ben Whynot on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

This Mummy-bag style sleeping bag is an amazing deal at $120, Rated for -18 degrees it is a fall/winter/spring bag. It is made of polyester and is filled with "H.O.T. SL" stuffing which is a synthetic material and is great for damp climates whereas down gets damp and clumps. I have tested this bag in -5 so far (still waiting for the temperature to drop to that -10, -15 mark.) And it kept me toasty all night. The bag is a quality one might expect from The North Face, the material is very durable, as it has been pretty much everywhere and has no wear whatsoever. The only downside to this bag is its weight, It is quite heavy when packed in its stuff-sack. For some hikers this might be a little bit much. I don't mind sacrificing a little bit of weight for the comfort it has to offer. It has two draw strings around the face area to tighten up on those cold nights. as well as several layers which cover the zipper so no cold air can get in. The color is blue and black, and it does not come in any other colors. This bag is an absolute gem. It is well worth the money. I highly recommend this to anyone.
