The Nursing Mother's Companion Book! By Sarahlovesmickey on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

This book was given to me by my cousin when I was pregnant with my daughter and contemplating the whole breast feeding adventure. My cousin swears by this book and refers to it as the "Breastfeeding Bible".

I did read the book while pregnant and was overwhelmed by how many issues can arise while breastfeeding. Honestly, I tossed the book aside and was going to donate it to Goodwill.

Fast forward to the day I gave birth to my daughter. She was having problems latching on and we were both getting frustrated and upset. I was feeling like a failure and she was starving. The lactation consultants tried to help and they did a little bit, but I turned back to this book.

This book offers just a plethora of information. It suggests many different ways to hold your baby while nursing. It also has a section in the back that lists medications and which ones are safe to use while nursing. There is also a section for adoptive mothers or if they want to breastfeed (I did not know this was an option!).

This book is very informative and practical. I kept the book and even referred to it after I had my youngest son. It is still sitting on my shelf so I can look at it when I have another little one. I am so glad that my cousin gave me this book.
