The Pianist Compelling Story Of Nazi Rule By Omdalf on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

There have been a few movies about Nazis treament of the Jews and here is a different look at Poland before and after Nazis invasion. It's about what happened to the Jewish families in Warsaw. But what makes this story different is that it's seen through the eyes of an artist, a pianist who played on Polish radio, and his passion for music

Brillantly acted by Adrien Brody, the story also adds to the history of some who helped the Jewish families at risk of their own lives. It also tells the story of what Jews were willing to do to survive, some even to guard and tell on other Jews.

The scenes of the Getto in Warsaw are compelling. I can't watch it without asking what will keep it from happening again.

This was not a time in history that could be told on film without being disturbing. And yet the story has hope.

One of the extra features... "Story of Survival" is about the real person the story is about, and about how the director looks at the story. The director's father was in a concentration camp. But the feature was not very compelling.

I also watched this movie. The scenes of the destruction were sobering to say the least.
