The Prestige

The Prestige is an amazing movie about magic and magicians. It is based in London in the early nineteenth century. Robert Angier, played by Hugh Jackman, and Alfred Borden, played by, Christian Bale are two young magicians who start off as friends but, after a horrible accident where Robert's wife dies during a magic trick, Alfred is blamed by Robert for her death. They then become arch rivals and get in way over their heads resulting in deaths, a love affair with Olivia Wenscombe, played by Scarlett Johansson and the destruction of both of their lives. Many of the things in this film are not what they appear to be so it is very important to watch extremely closely and try to pin down exactly what is happening.I think this really is an amazing film and is worth renting if not owning.
