The Producers 1968 Dvd By schimj on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

The Producers (1968) on DVD is the original movie starring Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel as an accountant and washed up producer of Broadway musicals respectivly. Wilder's character is an accountant for a large firm sent to inspect the books of the Broadway producer that seem to have some irregularities, and they eventually figure out that they could make alot of money if they produce a musical that has absolutly no chance to be hit. I find this to be one of the most entertaining movies created by Mel Brooks, who wrote and directed the 1968 version, as well as the musical adaptation of the movie, and the movie adaptaion of the musical. All are highly entertaining, but I feel that the others would not be nearly as funny if the original movie didn't build the characters in my mind first.
