The REALLY BIG Universal Remote!
By Sarahlovesmickey onMy friend bought her husband one of these REALLY BIG UNIVERSAL REMOTE controls for their TV, VCR, and DVD player. At the time, I thought that they were kind of obnoxiously huge and decided against buying one. This past Christmas season, I saw the REALLY BIG Universal Remote and they were on sale, so I grabbed one for only $10. I figured it would be a great gag gift for my hubby, since he is FOREVER losing our many remote controls. He unwrapped it and he really did get a laugh out of it. Unfortunately, it didn't work out in our living room because there is no button for a receiver. So, we decided to bring it upstairs in our bedroom. It is compatible with so many brands and the signal strength is okay as well. My hubby is a big guy (6'6" tall!) so this is the perfect remote for him. Honestly, when I use it, I feel kind of funny since it is so HUGE! I sometimes find it to be obnoxiously huge (like I originally thought when I initially saw these remotes). It takes up a lot of room on my hubby's bedside stand and I would say that really is one of the only downfalls of this remote.
I saw these advertised in ads around the holidays and thought they were a hysterical gag gift. In all honesty that's all I thought they were. I had no idea they really worked, that was one reason I never thought to get one. Now that I know they do, next year I might actually have to pick up a few for some remote freaks on my shopping list.
I think these things are hilarious! But they really do work quite well. :-)
I got one of these for the chinese gift exchange at my work. Everybody got a big kick out of it and the guy that ended up getting it is a big technology guy so I think he really liked it. :o) The one I got was on sale for $10 too...you gotta love bargains!
