I purchased this the day it was released, which was the beginning of July. The price may have been steep, but it was worth every penny. Anybody who is a fan of horror will enjoy this gem. The sound and picture quality on this Blu-Ray Disc is astounding. This has to be one of the best looking Blu-Rays out there. This is worth it for horror fans, but will fall short for everybody else. It looks like a cheap rip-off of "The Descent", but in my opinion, "The Ruins" was much better. This film has strong tension, a strong story, and strong characters with a shocking conclusion. The disc contains director and cast interviews and an alternative ending that everybody will love more than the original ending. This has to be one of the most disturbing and shocking survival movies that has ever existed. This will make you cringe, does not matter if you are used to it, or if you are a doctor. The quality is so good, it looks like it is really happening in front of you. Now, this was taken from a book in the 1990s called, as well, "The Ruins", which was a great book. Everybody I know loved it and everyone I talked to believes that the movie fell short from the book. But for a book to a movie transfer, this movie did extremely well. It had a limited release in theaters and is defiantly worth a rent. This is not for small children, but is for all horror and survival fans out there. This is a real gem. This is a must buy on Blu-Ray for those who are a fan of the "Horror" genre.
