The Sandlot By Blastoderm55 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Great American past times. The summer fling, the neighbor's scary dog, and hours of playing pitch and catch. All are part of the DVD release of The Sandlot. Starring Denis Leary and James Earl Jones, the Sandlot follows a young man, Scotty Smalls, in the early 60s who has moved to a new town with his mother and stepfather. Finding it difficult to fit in, Smalls is befriended by Benny the Jet Rodriguez, the best baseball player in town. Rodriguez convinces Smalls to join in the baseball games that go on daily at the old sandlot baseball field close to their neighborhood. Though initially met with an unwelcome reaction, Smalls finds himself part of a group of fun-loving young guys just enjoying their summer until a very valuable piece of American history finds its way into the paws of The Beast, the giant dog held captive behind the tall metal fence between the baseball field and his owner's home. The Sandlot is presented in widescreen format and is ready for surround sound, but that's pretty much where the bells and whistles end. If you're looking for special features, this is not your DVD. However, if you want a movie that'll make you feel like a kid again, you'll definitely want to pick up this bargain-priced DVD.
