The Sims 3

The Sims 3 is the follow up from Electronic Arts' highly successful line of The Sims 2.

The Sims is a simulation computer game. It allows the player to create characters and families and move them into pre-built houses or design your own house with the many in-game tools. The game is based on many real life experiences - jobs, school, births and deaths, and even relationship cheats.

In the Sims 3, it's highly different from the previous lines of Sims games. For once, Sims 3 offers a neighbourhood game play instead of the traditional household game-play. It means that the player may choose any household to play within the neighbourhood and have everything the family do to affect the neighbourhood. All other households run on time too which means the next door neighbour could die of old age and you didn't even played with that character once.

Secondly, EA Games have included an advance character builder - it allows players to freely customize their character in colours, ethnicity, size of appearances/eyes/etc., personality and favourites. With a simple slider, players can make an Asian Sims or a Caucasian Sim depending on their perference - in the previous games this wasn't introduced.

Although the game seems to be upgraded immensely, there are still flaws in my opinions.

First, the file size of the game. The original Sims 3 would cost you approximately 5GB of hard drive and that's not including any expansion packs (which is usually 1-2GBs).

Secondly, The Sims 3 requires a high graphics card to handle it smoothly. Otherwise the game would lag and the graphics would be extremely pixelated.

Thirdly, The Sims 3 in-game contents aren't as nicely done as the previous Sims games. It seems like the creators of Sims 3 forgot about half of the furniture creations on the beta versions as in this game, furnitures and clothings are limited.

Sometimes, the neighbourhood can be boring since it's the same job that anyone in town can get. There are less than 10 jobs in total for your Sims to choose from - not that exciting (EA Games is releasing an expansion pack full of new jobs).
