The Skeleton Key By buckeyefan on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

A terrific movie, and a pleasantly surprising performance from Kate Hudson as the lead role. I am used to seeing Kate in the romantic comedy roles, which I love her in, by the way, but this was quite a different take, and I was glad to see her stretch her acting abilities and excel in this role.

This is a suspense movie in which Kate's character takes a job as a caretaker for an elderly woman in Louisiana's bayous. While living in the woman's house, strange things begin happening around her and to her that bring up magic and voodoo and hoodoo of the deep south. Kate is not a believer of these things at the beginning of the movie, but as these events begin to escalate, she tries to get to the bottom of it all, but not without some frightening experiences along the way.

I loved this movie so much because it is different from anything I had ever seen before, and the fact that it was set in the deep south was perfect- the cinematography was perfect- it really captures the essence of the deep bayous- the colors of the sets were perfect. The movie is suspenseful (my nails will prove that fact), and intriguing- just a tremendous plot with lots of twists.

If you are in the mood for a good scare, buy it today! This movie is rated PG-13- not a lot of gore or violence- just old-fashioned scare techniques! Running time is 1 hour 44 minutes.
