One of the few indulges I give into is reading beauty magazines and books because I love skin care and makeup (it does help that my best friend owns a skin care company!).

My latest beauty book is my best purchase yet and it is called The Skin Type Solution by Dr. Leslie Baumann. Dr. Baumann says that there are four skin types and under each of those categories, there are four sub-categories. They are:

Oily, Sensitive Skin

Oily, Sensitive, Pigmented, and Wrinkled (OSPW)

Oily, Sensitive, Pigmented, and Tight (OSPT)

Oily, Sensitive, Non-Pigmented, and Wrinkled (OSNW)

Oily, Sensitive, Non-Pigmented, and Tight (OSNT)

Oily, Resistant Skin

Oily, Resistant, Pigmented, and Wrinkled (ORPW)

Oily, Resistant, Pigmented, and Tight (ORPT)

Oily, Resistant, Non-Pigmented, and Wrinkled (ORNW)

Oily, Resistant, Non-Pigmented, and Tight (ORNT)

Dry, Sensitive Skin

Dry, Sensitive, Pigmented, and Wrinkled (DSPW)

Dry, Sensitive, Pigmented, and Tight (DSPT)

Dr. Baumann provides an in-depth questionnaire for you to take and once your score is tallied, it will be determined under which category you fall (I am an ORPT) and she then suggests what products you should use for your particular skin type. I really like her suggestions because she suggests products from the very inexpensive drugstore brands to the high end department store brands and how you can incorporate both in your regimen. I do use one skin care line but add some pieces from other brands that are tailor made for my skin and this is the best my skin has ever looked!

I highly suggest this book for all skin care mavens!!
