The Snuggie By Benjamin Clifford on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

So here is a hot item this holiday , the snuggie. It has been all over television in infomercials and advertisements. Does it live up to the baudy claims? Mostly yes, but read on.

First of all i ordered my snuggie in late novemberand received it today, january 13th. The company was apparently totally flooded with orders for the holiday season and couldnt get their goods out to meet demand. So a note to any buyers, if you want it for the holiday season order WELL in advance.

Aside from that i am pleased with the product. For $40 total (with shipping) i received 2 snuggies and 2 booklights. The booklights are actaully fairly nifty, with a nice white colored light. The snuggie itself is of good quality. While the fabric will not amaze anyone it is nice and does not feel cheap. The garment is really quite large in every way. This is nice because it covers your entire body well, but at the same time there is a lot of extra material in the sleeves and around the neck . As long as you dont intend to actually do anything in it this shouldnt be a problem.

Overall the snuggie is everything you would think from its advertising. Pick up one as a gift and keep the second for yourself.

OMG I just today FINALLY got my 2 Snuggies. Well for one, I ordered the Snoggies because I could NOT afford a Slanket at $45 a pop, so I thought "Oh look, I can get the same thing for half the price! And oh look, they will send me TWO for the price of one! And oh look, only $5 more and they can be ultra-plush, super-soft, orgasm-to-the-touch material Shluggies!" Well in the first place, I am absolutely certain I chose the dark(ish) blue color for my Shnuckies, because I didnt want the burgundy and, although I prefer green in just about everything, the "sage green" color sample blob on the website just seemed a little too light-colored for my dark-toned household and husband for whom I was buying the Schluckies...the same husband who professed a desire for a Slanket long ago. Well the color of what came in the mail today can best be described as light sea-foam green. Or a lighter version of hospital scrub green. Or baby blue with a touch of green thrown in. Is this what the Shnorckie Company calls "sage green"? And why does this color look NOTHING like the "sage green" color blob on the website? And MOST importantly, why did I not get the royal dark-ish blue color I ordered? I guess its possible I ordered "sage green" by mistake. But if so, why does it look in person like light baby sea foam scrub green blue? Well first of all, on to the product itself. Its a rectangular fleece blanket with 2 sleeves sewn in. That's really it. The pics and videos make it look like a robe you can wear while doing anything...walking around, sitting up, laying down, etc. I wanted to get a product like this for my husband to keep him warm while working on his laptop....but one of the first things he said to me after he tried it on was "It totally fell off while sitting at my laptop." Then I put it on myself and walked a few steps....in a second or two it was on the carpet around my feet. It DOES NOT fasten in any way behind your back, and therefore it does NOT act like a robe in any way. It acts like a fleece rectangle with 2 sleeves sewn on. I was expecting something like a robe....like the pictures and video show. But no, its a fleece rectangle with some sleeves. OH, and some pockets. It doesn't stay on your shoulders. It doesn't wrap around. It doesnt fasten. It just falls....like a rectangle with 2 sleeves would. That is, unless you are reclining on your sofa. And even then, it still falls off your shoulders...especially if you move your arms to answer the phone or play Sudoku or shake a fist at your cat....all of which are things the ads say the Snurgy is wonderful for. All I can see that the Shloggy is good for is laying on your couch while watching TV with the remote near your hand. But you better not move too much and you should tuck the edges under you, including the shoulder corners which, in the ads, look as though they are perfectly tucked behind your back... 'Cause if you put the remote too far away from your hand - oh well, there goes the Snuffly. OH and firstly, my total order (2 Spugglies and 2 'free' booklights I didnt need or want) cost about $45 -- roughly the cost of one Slanket. The shipping I paid was like $16...for 2 pieces of fleece and 2 3 oz. booklights?? My floor-length ultra plushy bathrobe from Wal-Mart does the job much better than this product.

The Snuggie stole their idea from the FREEDOM BLANKET! My husband and I started the Freedom Blanket about 5 years ago. We sold hundreds but never had the funding behind our business to do what the Snuggie is doing now. They stole everything from us and are now making millions off our idea! Please go to our site www.freedomblanket.com and join in the fight against the Snuggie. They are theives and we want everyone to know it!

There is no way I would get one of these snuggies I'd feel like a monk..I have to keep up my street cred :). The advert makes me laugh with all those actors with the false smiles and nodding heads.
