The Story of a Lifetime - A Keepsake of Personal Memoirs is a wonderful "do it yourself" book. It is a large (9 x 12) hardbound, gilded page, professional looking book on the exterior. Open it up and you have 384 pages to write your personal memoirs. What a clever idea.

The table of contents list 21 chapter topics in which to write your life story. Some of the chapter titles are: Family Background, Childhood, Teen Years, Higher Education, Military, Career, Love and Marriage, Parentood, Golden Years, Regrets, Mistakes, and Family Tree along with several others. There is also a spot at the end of the book for "favorite photograph's and momentos".

Each chapter has many prompts to help you with your story. Here are a few from the first chapter: What do you remember about yur oldest relatives you knew personally?; When and where were your mother's mother and father born?; What kind of persons were they?; What do you know about theri values, philosphies and religious beliefs?; Where was your mother born?; What was her childhood like?; Describe her best qualities; What is the happiest memory you have of your mother? and so on.

I personally got a copy of this book to use to ask the questions to my 93 year-old grandfather. I wanted to be able to pass family history down to my children.

I plan to get one for my grandmother also, and eventually one my husband and me.This makes such a wonderful family heirloom!
