The Strangers 2008 Revew By Joshua Hughes on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

With all these hollywood movies nowadays cashing in on the "serial killers" idea, there have been quite a few movies and remakes produced by hollywood. For example, I spit on your grave is being remade and so have a variety of other movies. However, this movie is quite original in some aspects and fails in others.

The plot is quite simple; James' marriage proposal has been denied by Kristen and they come home one dark night both upset. Before they can think about their future and what is in store for them, things start to become eerie as frequent knocks on the door are heard and people start entering the house.

You could say this is your typical slasher movie and you are right on some terms. However, the acting in this I would say is above average to typical hollywood movies and the action does get very tense at times. Of course, it does have it's fair share of jump-scares but also has some unpredictable moments that really build to the whole scenario.

Quite a few plot holes that did detract from the film and some things did actually take you out of the experience (e.g. bad camera work) but other than them and the ending. The movie was pretty solid.

Overall 6.5/10
