The Tipping Point by Malcom Gladwell
By halcamdad onMalcolm Gladwell, a former business and science writer for the Washington Post gives us a very thought provoking book. He analyzes abrupt, unexpected changes in our society and argues that such epidemics often spread through society like wildfire or the outbreak of an infectious disease. He cites many examples including behaviors, messages, products etc. The moment when these social epidemics take off, or as he puts it reach their critical mass, is called the tipping point. It's a great motivational book. Of course, viewed through a retrospectoscope it's a bit easier to describe and define the tipping point. Instead of trying to create tipping points, I believe the book trains us to be more perceptive and in tune with rising tides and the accumulation of critical mass. Knowing that the threshold is near can be very beneficial. I could ramble forever. This book is original and very intriguing. Definitely worth checking out.
