... The Winner Is... Gulf Shores Ala. ...
By Steve Collier onI've been in the construction business for several years now, and from time to time you find you need to replace those old saws that have more than paid for themselves with newer versions of the same brand just for the added features... I was useing the same Makita circular saw...(or skill saw as some people call them), for over 10 years, when the cord was accidentally cut... I suppose I could have fixed it myself, but I had several guys working with me at the time, so I ran out to the hardware store just up the road to buy another one... I was working in Gulf Shores Alabama, rebuilding homes that were destroyed by hurricanes Ivan and Katrina, when I ran across a great deal... Makita Circular Saws usually run around $139.00, But I guess because of the demand at the time, NTW Hardware had purchased 500 saws just so they could pass the savings on to the construction workers that had come to help them rebuild their community... I not only got a great deal on a saw I was needing... I got a chance to see how an entire community was doing everything they could to help put things back in order after the storms...It was a very humbling experience...

What a great find for you! Makita makes great tools (at least what I have heard from my friends who work construction) and that is a great price. What wonderful tool to have to help out with rebuilding a town devastated by a horrible hurricane!
Kudos to you for helping out the katrina victims. This was a great bargain for you. My husband has this saw but he doesn't use it near as much as you do it sounds.
Sounds like you got a great deal on the Makita circular saw. Their tools are dependable and made to last. Great information!
Makita tools are my favorite! And that's great that you were able to help out Katrina victims!
How nice of you to go out there and help rebuild the area. And what a great deal you got on this saw :0)
What a great story, thank you for sharing it. My ex husband loves Makita tools.
I have one of their saws, and its a pretty good product.
When my husband was younger he bought loads of Makita saws and other tools. Some, even after he's passed on, we still are using today. I love that Makita took such an active part in helping to TRY and rebuild the Gulf Coast area. It's great that Alabama recovered from Ivan that well. But I'm saddened that New Orleans will never be the same again. Thank you for doing your part in rebuilding.
