The Worst Leash For Big Dogs By kaytidawg on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I can't overstate how much I do not recommend this leash. I thought it was great when I bought it at a dog show. The gimmick is that it is made of rubber, so when a dog who tends to pull, such as mine, yanks on it, the kinetic energy goes back into the leash, causing him to actually bounce back with the same force that he is pulling with.
I won't lie; it was hilarious seeing my dog bounce back when he tried to go after a squirrel. He had the most shocked look on his face. Also, the hand grip is very comfortable.
However, big however, when I was on vacation and a friend was walking the dog for me, the leash snapped in half on her and the dog got loose. Thinking it was a fluke, I sent the broken one back and got a free replacement. I had only had the new one about two weeks when he snapped that one in half as well. It upset me more because my dog was with me when I bought it and the salesperson assured me that they were perfect for dogs of his size. I paid almost $30 for this substandard product based on some salesman's hype. Be wary.

Thanks for the warning! I look for a woven leash that has a really good stitch on both the handle and by the clip. A company that sells a product for a dog that could have serious consequences if it malfunctions like yours did is very negligent to do so without proper testing. I have a hard time believing that the leash was tested well if you had 2 break on you with normal use.
Kind of sounds dangerous! All that rubber snapping!
I was checking those out the other day, and thought they sounded like a good idea. Thanks for the warning!
