Writer's Digest Book Club's The Writer's Book of Matches is a two hundred and fifty page book full of useful writing prompts. The first chapter describes how to use the book. The rest of it is the writing prompts. These are great for any writer who has writer's block. They help to start a writer to write the beginning of a scene or to continue when I am stuck. This is wonderful for poetry, short stories, and novels. There are many pictures in the book for inspiration as well. Altogether there are one thousand and one writing prompts. Most of these tips are only one sentence long. Others are several sentences long. I use this book among others when I begin writing each day. It is also helpful in creating the ideas of what the story is about.
