Thereby Hangs A Tale Curious Word Origins By CountryBoy71 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

This is another offering from Charles E. Funk. This book focuses on the meaning of words, or more specifically, where they came from.

From ‘bigot', ‘diploma', ‘camera', and ‘namby-pamby', you'll learn quite a bit about the English language and its use and evolution. English is rich with history and events - so much has been lost in the passage of time. This book will help you to recover a lot of that sense of our (English-speaking) place in history.

This is one of several offerings by Mr. Funk. I give this one an A+ grade. It is readable by most grade school children and above, and will provide enjoyment and education for all. My only regret is that the book isn't twice as long. Don't miss out on this fine offering.
