There's A Giant Goodyear Blimp In My House! By xshellyx on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
My husband has been a fan of the Goodyear Blimp since he was a little boy. I found this on ebay and knew it was going to be his favorite Christmas gift! The baloon part of the blimp is HUGE, measuring 52" long when fully inflated. There are three fans attached to the gondola, one for right/left steering, one for forward/reverse and the other for up/down. The remote control has two switches and buttons along the top to control each fan.
It does come in pieces and takes a while to assemble. Luckily, we have a helium tank, but you will likely have to take the balloon somewhere to be filled. Then, the fins and gondola must be attached and put together as well as adding the right amount of weights to get the blimp hovering nicely. As helium gets less and less, weights can be removed to keep the blimp flying. After a while, though, the blimp can be refilled with helium to start over. You can also buy replacement baloons or any other part you may need online.
My husband and son love flying the blimp in the house. I like how it's soft so I don't have to worry about my four year old crashing it into everything. It's pretty easy to control once you get the hang of it and the batteries last pretty long since you are not constantly running the fans when flying. The special sized battery for the gondola is a bit expensive though.
I would recommend this to any Goodyear Blimp lover!

How cool to own your very own blimp! This must be so much fun to play with. Love that you can take weights off to make the blimp fly longer. I still stop and stare whenever the real blimp flies over my town.
That is so cool! What a good idea to use a balloon - I've never seen anything like that. I love the blimp, too.
That looks very cool, I can see how a dad and son would love it. What a great gift.
How cute of a toy is that. I bet you all have fun playing with it.

This looks like so much fun! Thanks for sharing.
I'd love to fly this around my house, my son would go nuts!
This sounds like a lot of fun, and just a bit different from so many RC toys.
The Goodyear Blimp is very dear to my heart for my grandfather worked and help build the fist blimp .He worked at the Goodyear Mill in Rockmart ,Ga. for 41 years as well as many more members of my family in later years .There is a lot of info on the web of the mill it holds a lot of history in such a small town.
They use to fly these inside the arena here in Florida and they are very cool. Thanks for the review.
