This Book Will Make You Cry

Someday by Alison McGhee is a sweet children's book about moms and daughters. I like to give this book as a gift when someone I know has a baby girl. This is also a nice book to give to your own mother.
The book begins with a new mom and her baby girl. It follows them as the baby grows into a child, a teenager and a young woman. The mother in the book shares her dreams for her daughter. Later, the daughter has a daughter of her own. And then the daughter becomes a middle-aged woman and thinks of her mother.
It's not easy to find a really sweet book that isn't too gooey and over-emotional. This book is straightforward and real, which is what makes it so endearing. The mother's dreams for her daughter are not about material possessions or even about relationships. They are about experiences of the heart and soul.
Daughters with mothers and mothers with daughters should have this wonderful book.
