This Car Alarm Remote Control is Terrific!
By edev5 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011When we moved into a new city to start a new life as a newly-wed, we realized that the city we were going to live in had higher criminality than our hometown. Thats when we decided to install a car alarm into our car. We were recommended by our mechanic to buy a remote control for our car alarm: Calsonic Kansei Corp model ASTU15. Its made in Canada and to be honest, my hubby and I never had such experience with car alarm since this is our first one. To activate the alarm all we need to do is pressing the car lock button on the remote control. It will automatically turn on the alarm then. But the car lock button wont work and instead it will make noises when a door isnt totally shut and we try to lock it in this kind of situation. There is a red button on the remote control, symbolizes some kind of lamp but we are unsure of the function of this button because we never use it and the mechanic didnt inform us of this button.
Our car alarm isnt that sensitive like some car alarms are. Some of those sensitive car alarms would make alarm noises even when theres a slight touch on the body of the car. This would of course annoy people especially when we park on the public places, like malls, supermarket, church, etc. Luckily ours doesnt work that way. It would make alarm noises when window glass breaks, or door breaks, anything that indicates breaching. My hubby seems pretty satisfied with this car alarm remote control and we surely recommend it.
Note: It's compatible with our Nissan Grand Livina.
Update On Apr 03, 2010: Looks like they are selling this at a higher price now. I checked with our mechanic last month. Glad we already installed it earlier.

For $12, that's a great price to pay for car alarm remote. I know there are a lot of alarms out there for around $60, which is what my sister paid. Glad it works for you.
Although ours is factory installed, I found that the red button will turn the alarm on and off so if for example you are in a store and your alarm goes off but you see the car is fine...also if there is a situation where you don't want to arm the alarm you can also use this red button to turn the alarm off completely or just to silence it if its been tripped. Ours is for our Nissan Altima and it also has a feature that allows us to roll our windows down or up via the remote. I think we have to hold down the unlock button (not totally certain I've only used the feature once when we first got it) and then to roll them up we hold down the Lock button.
