This is the starter pack for the Thomas the Train Tank Engines. There are several different styles andn this one is the conductor pack which means it has the bridge, conductor shed and then the 3 cars with it to start (Thomas is not pictured). The price of $40 is extremely steap compared to other wooden train tracks. It is nice, but I do not think for the extra price that it is worth it. We have owned target brand, walmart brand and also Ikea brand and all have worked fine. All work with Thomas cars and the price difference is incredible!
It is constructed of nice heavy duty wood, which is super nice, but also could be a hazard if you have a child who throws things. There are no special features to this that others do not have, this oen does make it so the arm can go up and down on the shed, but to me and my son, that is no bid deal. It is made well and durable, but because it is made of wood and painted it easily chips as you can see in the picture (and we don't throw the pieces here). This set is fairly new but does have some chunks out of it.
Overall for the price I feel this is not worth it, buy a generic set and get some overpriced thomas cars to go with it. With the recent recalls on this product it makes me look at it and value it even worse, if I am paying this much money for this kind of stuff I fully expect that my child will be safe.

My son had just received a set like this on his birthday. Very nice. It can be expanded into a huge one. Other parts, trains and accessories are available in toy shops. My kids enjoy playing with this.
