My son has a new obsession - a little train named Thomas. My sister-in-law received an extra Thomas Figure 8 Set and rather than return it, she gave it to my son.

The Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway - Water Tower Figure 8 Set retails for $39.99 at most stores. This set is recommend for children 3-5 years of age and is considered a beginner's set in the Thomas world. The tracks are made of wood and can be constructed to form a figure 8. There is an elevated bridge in the center of the figure 8. The set also includes a water tower. When you flip the spout on the water tower, it appears that the water empties from the tower. My son likes to pretend to be refueling Thomas. Also included in the set are a Thomas train, red cargo car with cargo, Sir Topham Hatt figure, railroad crossing sign, stop sign and a tree. Almost all the accessories and products are made of wood. When the entire set is assembled in a figure 8 it measures 42" x 22".

My son loves to put the set together and has been able to do so on his own since he turned 3. He can easily sit down and play with this set for an hour straight. He loves putting the tracks in various combinations and has fun pushing Thomas around those.

This starter set is a great introduction to the Thomas line. It also is a great value. I was at the store the other day and noticed that the just for the bridge alone retails for $18 and the water tower is $24. I am extremely happy with the Thomas Wooden Railway - Water Tower Figure 8 Set and would happily buy again from this line. In fact, this Christmas we plan on buying the Figure 8 Expansion Set.
