Time Warner Cable's HD DVR
By dlpcarden onWhen we purchased our HD TV a few years ago we decided to upgrade our Time Warner Cable DVR to the HD DVR.Having the HD DVR allows us to watch certain channels in high definition. The HD DVR always allows us to record two shows at one time while watching one of the shows recording. There is a problem that we seem to encounter whenever we try and record shows in high definition. At times when we have a show set to record in high definition a message comes up on the screen saying "not enough disk space - can not record show".I can then turn to the non high definition channel to try and record the show - and it records... We do not understand why a show will not record in high definition but the same show will record on the regular cable channel.
The channel guide is really easy to understand and operate. The guide shows what time and channel a show will be on. It also describes what the show is about.
The HD DVR does have a USP port on the front of the box but there is no directions on how to use it.

Interesting that it won't always record in HD - is your box maybe too full of saved recordings? I hate watching regular channels now that I'm spoiled with HD!
I have this same DVR and have not had any problems with it.....You may check with your company because it may be just a bad unit. Thanks for sharing your experience.
we have a local company for our cable, they are pretty decent at best...but u have heard some really good stuff with Time Warner...
I would check with Time Warner about the HD recording not working while the regular station does. I don't know what I would do without or DVR and certainly can't imagine ever being without it now either. I always wait til a program is recorded and then sit back and enjoy! Thanks for sharing your experience with Time Warner, great job!
I absolutely couldn't get along without my DVR anymore. I wonder if it might be a special cord you need to get the HD on your DVR?
too bad you are having some problems with it. I would definitely contact the cable company and see if they are help you trouble shoot your problems. I would not think it should be doing that.
Haven't branched out yet into the world of DVRs!! It must be annoying to get the message about not enough disk space...I appreciate your pros & cons!
I don't yet have a DVR and really want one. I know that once I do, I'll wonder how I lived without one!
I'd be totally lost with out my DVR. I wonder why you are having the problems with your recording. I would have to give them a call and find out if you could maybe switch the box for a different one.
Hmmm that's strange that it would need more disk space when it is a specifically designed to play HD. lol Have you tried calling Time Warner and asking them about it? Glad to hear you're happy with it otherwise!
