To Refill Or Not To Refill My Hp56/Hp57 Ink Cartridge By uaezarb on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I admit I tried to save money by having my print cartridges refilled. First I bought a kit to refill them myself, but I had only minimal luck with that and it was messy. Then I tried to have them refilled at Walgreen's and found that after using the refilled cartridge for only about a week, I kept getting an error message that the cartridge was not compatible with my printer. I still don't understand how it could have worked for a while and then all of a sudden I was getting this error. I returned the cartridge and had them refill another one and had the same thing happen again. So I have given up on refilled cartridges and went back to the original HP cartridges.
Although the cartridges are more expensive, Hewlett-Packer does claim that their cartridges print up to 65% more pages than bargain inks. So if that's true, then I guess I'm better of in the long run. I admit I have never had a cartridge fail to work and they do last a reasonable amount of time. The quality of print is very good and will not fade.
I do believe that the cost of ink is ridiculous when you consider how little ink is really inside that small cartridge. And everyone thinks the price of gas is high!!
HP HP56 Black/HP57 color ink 2 pk Purchased at: Office Max Price: $40

I have come to the same conclusion. I use the 'draft' quality setting, and only print the page ranges that I really need. Using refilled and off-brand cartridges is not worth the frustration.
The cost of ink is really high.
yeah it is too high.
