Toad Makes a Road

This little board book served multiple purposes in our household for YEARS.It was one of the books I always kept in the diaper bag for "emergencies."Like when my son had been waiting 3 HOURS to see his pediatric doctor and we had exausted everything in the waiting room and played with the glove balloon until he became bored with it too.That is when I'd wip out the trusty "toad makes a road book."Good for at least 30 minutes of unscreaming entertainment!The book is only 10 pages long but I would first read it as a story (nice and slow) allowing him plenty of time to study the silly pictures and look behind the flaps.Then, as in all Usborne books, we would search each page for the cute little yellow ducky that was hiding.I can't tell you how many times this book saved my sanity.And it held up GREAT.It hardly looks used even after 3-4 years in my diaper bag.

This sounds like a very cute book.I like that it has a hidden ducky for them to search for. I am sure by that time they forgot why they were screaming. Great idea!
I have some Usborne books that we really enjoy, they're the "You're Not My" series. I didn't know that there was a hidden duck in their books - is it always a duck, or does the animal change? I think some of ours have a mouse on each page?
Usborne books are great aren't they? That hidden duck just adds one more way to entertain the kids.

Toad Makes a Road sounds like a good book to have for little ones. Now I'm curious about the story, so I'm going to look for it at the book store next time I'm there, just so I can read it. (It would probably be a good choice to have on hand for baby shower gifts, too)
