Toast Of The Town Or At Least My Kitchen By bubblywriter on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

There is nothing that starts my day better than to have a slice of toast with jam or toasted raisin bread. The toaster is, probably, one of the most utilized products in my kitchen.

So, I was extremely disappointed after a string of bad luck with other well known name brands led to the purchase of three toasters in nine months, to say the other's had longevity problems is to put it mildly. In frustration we bought this more expensive toaster hoping price equalled quality. In this case, it did, seven years later it still works perfectly.

This heavy, handsome, silver toaster has a non-mark finish and 2 stainless steel adjustable slots. The bagel feature allows for various widths which can accommodate English muffins, scones, crumpets and tea biscuits. My Scottish heritage is showing, isn't it? The defroster for frozen ready made items is regularly used in my household. The light/dark browning dial has a stop/cancel button handy for assessing the level of doneness.

The crumb tray can be slightly stiff when it's being inserted, but other than that the Delonghi Retro toaster has proved its worth.

I would, definitely, consider this brand and model again when this toaster says goodbye to its last crumbs.
