Topamax For Migraines Review By mrsjd on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

My neurologist prescribed Topamax to me as a preventative for my migraines. I started out having migraines once a month and then over time they increased to where I was having them once or twice a week at times. I started out on 25 mg for a week, then to 50 mg for a week, then to 100 mg, which is where I have stayed. I have been taking Topamax for about 3 1/2 months now and I have not had one migraine since. I have had some side effects, but nothing so bad that it would make me want to stop taking it. Side effects included tingling in my hands and feet, occasional appetite suppression, it made cokes taste bitter/flat, but I don't drink those very much so it wasn't a big deal for me, and it has made me sleep very sound, have a very deep sleep, which for me, a working mother of three, is great. I do recommend this medication for migraines as a preventative!
