Toshiba 56 Rear Projection Tv By crazycol on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I Love This TV. My husband bugged me like crazy about getting a big screen tv. I toldl him I didn't want to spent the money. He discovered that he had enough points to get the TV through American Express Points. This TV is fabulous, the screen is huge, the picture is wonderful. We love watching the TV especially football games and sporting events.

The TV is a rear projection screen which does not lose quality over time. The only maintenance required is to replace the bulb to the projector every few years when it burns out. We did lots of research before getting the tv on flat screens LCD's and plasma tv's and decided this was the best option for us.

The tv has a silver border with control buttons on the lower right side as well as places for video in and video out. When you are viewing a non HD program there are two black stripes down each side of the picture. When you are watching a HD program the picture is amazing. The Discovery channel and others which show nature at its best there is nothing better.

These TV's have come down in price since we got ours and Toshiba makes a quality product. It is easy to set up and connect to a home theater system, dvd player, cd player and more. I recommend this product.

I just realized I didn't put in a very cool feature of this tv, all of the input jacks for the tv are on the side of the tv, not in the back where they are hard to get at.

Update Posted on :

About four months ago I was watching tv and heard a popping sound and the screen went blank.   I figured the sound was the bulb popping and turned off the tv.  I turned it back on and heard a voice coming from the tv that said "The bulb is broken.".  When I heard this I again turned off the tv and telephoned my son who is who I go to for electronics questions.  He told me that it was indeed possible for my tv to be talking, lol.  I ordered a new bulb for the tv and found one online for about $150.  I received the new bulb and it was installed in less than 10 minutes and the picture was again good as new.

Just did a web search and a 57" rear projection HD by Toshiba was $1,449. Hubby travels and uses American Express card so was able to get tv with points.
