Toshiba Hd A30 By Saul102 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I feel like I should cry myself to sleep at night knowing that HD DVD has lost the format war. However, I do want to share with you that, if you can find a deal on this HD DVD player, you should take it.My wife surprised me for Christmas and bought this for me after I had been laying (not so subtle) hints for months. The player is superb and present beautiful 1080p images from the HD DVD's. With HD DVD being discontinued I plan to hold onto mine and grab up all the deals I can on HD DVD's before buying a Blu Ray player. The features that are standard for this HD DVD player (picture in picture, ethernet port, web downloads) are features that will not reach Blu Ray until later this year, and the movies available look amazing. I mine hooked up to a 46 inch Samsung DLP and a JVC 5.1 surround system. It is awesome to finally be able to view movies that show off the true capability of my tv, and the clarity of the sound separation for the HD movies is nothing short of amazing. This player also offer amazing upconversion of regular dvd's. I previously had a Sony player that I thought did a good job, but the Toshiba player outdoes the Sony in every way.So, if you are in the market for an upconverting dvd player, I highly recommend this unit. I would also recommend this to anyone that can get it on the cheap along with some HD DVD's that will surely be discounted in the near future as Wal Mart, Target, and Amazon begin clearing their stock.
