I wanted a small television for my bedroom, along with a DVD player. In looking through the choices in the area, I settled on a Toshiba flat-screen TV with a built in player. At $179, it was less expensive that buying a TV and a DVD player separately, and also took up less room than most of the other small televisions. While I would have liked to get a digital TV with high definition, I couldn't find one that fit the space or my budget.

The picture is fine for a CRT television; it can't match Plasma, and it's not HD, but it's quite clear. The DVD player is also adequate. For me, the best feature on this television is actually the remote control. In my living room, I need three: one for the TV, another for the digital cable and DVR box, and a third for the DVR/VCR player/recorder. It can get confusing. The Toshiba has all the functions on one remote, and the buttons are large enough, and labeled clearly enough, that it is easy to use, without the need to resort to a manual every time you want to do anything. It has all the features you might want for a bedroom TV, including a mute button and a sleep timer.

There are certainly larger televisions, with and without DVD players, available, and certainly ones with better picture quality. But for my bedroom and my budget, the 14 inch Toshiba with built-in DVD player was a perfect fit.
