Travelocity Flight and Cruise Package

Reviewing: Travelocity Flight + Cruise

My hubby and I decided to go on a cruise to Alaska in 2006. His parents decided to join us on the tip also. I did all the research on the price, dates, and travel options. I ended up finding the best deal on Travelocity.com. I had used this site before with no problems, so I had no hesitation on booking with them.

My in-laws were at our house the day we booked online. I purchased my trip first, but at the very end it said they something had happened and the purchase may not have gone through. I figured I would give it a little time to process before I called the help line. In the meantime, by mother-in-law went ahead and booked hers. The same thing happened at the end. I called Travelocity and they said they were having a problem with their server. I suggested they take the site down until it was fixed because it was going to mess up a bunch of people's purchases. They said "we're working on it."

After looking into both of our reservations, the purchase said we had bought the cruise, but no flight. We purposely booked the cruise and flight as a package because it saved us a bunch of money. We had also purchased the airport shuttle transfer with the package. Overall, it would have been a great deal, but without a flight it was useless.

After about 3 hours on the phone with travelocity, the airline, and our cruise line, we finally had the whole thing worked out. We wanted our whole package canceled and all the money put back on our credit cards. I was afraid they would not do it because we didn't purchase the trip insurance, but everything was refunded without a problem. The travelocity team was very helpful and understanding about the whole thing. I did have to call the airline directly to make sure the tickets were never charged, but everything else was handled by Travelocity.

I have booked airfare with Travelocity before, but this was the first time I tried a total package from them. I think it would have worked out great if the site wasn't having problems that day. I would try booking a package again with them in the future if they had the best deal on what I was looking for.

Sorry to hear about the trouble with travelocity. I booked our last cruise with them because they had the best price and an extra on board credit. I had a problem with my past guest number and getting a cake for my sons birthday (neither problem was something to do with them). I called them twice to get answers and if they could not answer it themselves, they called Disney while I was on the phone with them and got the answer for me. I was very impressed with thier service and would use them again. I hope I don't run into problems like you did.

I've never used Travelocity before. I've LOOKED at the site tons of times just never booked anything with them. Now I'm thinking that maybe this is a good thing. Sorry for all the trouble you had to go through:0)

I have used Travelocity many times. I actually think I have gotten a better deal there than Expedia! I used to use Expedia exclusively but one day I wandered over to Travelocity and they had the same package cheaper! I will always go look there first from now on. Sorry you had a problem booking your package, but happy it all got resolved!

I'm so sorry for the hassle you went through with Travelocity. I'm probably one of the few people who have had bad luck with them (twice) but it gives me encouragement to hear that others have great luck booking through them. I hope you still enjoyed your cruise though!

What I want to know is if you went to Alaska in the end run? I have never used Travelocity but I have gone to their site and calculated certain things before. I ams sorry to hear that you had so much trouble with booking online. On the other hand it was good to hear that Travelocity credited your charge cards fully. You said you had used them before and would still use them therefore that tells me that they are probably the ones who provide the best deals. I will definitely keep them in mind when booking future trips! Thanks for the great information!

Kakoa, twice in the last 6 years my husband tried to work with Travelocity at work for his boss, an every time they could not get him the flight suggested. I'm happy to hear they credited you back for the mixup, but I think Travelocity is way overrrated.

Thanks for the detailed information. I am sorry that you such a bad time getting this trip, but at least they were helpful to restore your money. that does say something positive about them.

Glad to know they stood behind their problems with the website, even though it cost you a lot of time on the phone.

Love travelocity. I think it's great that they told you they were having issues with their server. Phone time always seems like it's forever doesn't it?
