Triple Paste: The Best For Severe Diaper Rash By Tina Lehman on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

My son was on antibiotics for a period of time, which caused diarrhea and subsequent diaper rashes on his sensitive skin. In fact, the rashes would get so bad that they would sometimes bleed. Needless to say I tried a lot of different diaper rash creams. None worked as well as Triple Paste medicated ointment.

Triple paste comes in either tub or a tube. It is much thicker than ordinary (and less expensive) diaper creams. In fact, it can be a little difficult to spread on sore bottoms. But once it is in place, Triple Paste forms a barrier that is nearly impermeable to moisture which protects the diaper rash from getting worse and allows it time to heal. I also add a layer of corn starch between the Triple Paste and the diaper, which helps keep the cream in place.

Triple Paste does not have an odor. It is, however, very greasy which makes it difficult to remove from your hands (and carpet and clothing).

Because it is so expensive, I do not recommend this as an every day diaper cream. But for those occasions where your baby has severe diaper rash Triple Paste will go a long way to helping your baby's bottom heal.
