Trout Fishing Frenzy !!! By Steve Collier on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
Trout Fishing requires a little stealth as well as a little luck... And many of the places I go are so dense and mountainous that fly rods are really impracticle, and your standard rod and real sets are too big also... I was fortunate to find a rod and real set produced by Shakespeare in my local Walmart store about 5 years ago... The real was equiped with 4 lb. test line (which is perfect for coaxing those native trout into biteing), and the rod is a Shakespeare product also... A 4.5 ft. Ugly Stik !!! Although this may look like a child's toy at first glance, let me assure you... This is one of the finest ultralite fishing sets on the market today... With the fully adjustable drag, I've been able to land several 20" to 24" trout with only a 4 lb. test line !!! The light line and fiberglass rod are so sensitive, I've even caught fish as small as 2 inches !!! The only maintenance required is replacing the line at the start of each fishing season (so those big ones don't get away)... How much more simple can it get !?!

I love fishing! Your fishing pole seems like it's doing a good job of reeling in the big ones!
You are Quite a Fisherman-Grapevine_did you learn how to fish from a family member?
I don't fish but my husband does and I'm sure he'd like this.
This obviously is a good fishing rod from the kinds of fish you are catching!
This sounds like a great fishing pole. Thanks for the information.
The ultralite is so much fun. There is nothing like catching a big bass or peacock bass on one of these rods. I caught a 6 pound peacock on my ultralite and it was more fun than fighting a 30+ pound tarpon on light tackle.
Sounds like a great rod for catching trout. Certainly a step up from the bamboo rod I used at my grandparents house growing up!
