Turning Vinyl L Ps Into Digital C Ds Is A Snap By dade on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I inherited half of my father's record collection, my brother has the other half. Back in, "the day", my dad was a hippie. He had all of the vinyl to prove this too. One day, he simply got tired off having them around his basement, so dad, turned them all over to me and Brian to fight over.

I was running out of toys one day, when I came across the Ion, brand Record-Ripping Turntable, with USB output. It converts record albums to MP3s, or CDs. What an idea! I had never even considered this yet. Given enough time, I am sure I would have invented it!

It is a nice system. I have been burning all this vinyl to CDs. I try and hide this record ripping turntable from my older brother, whenever he comes over to the house. I am unwilling to share this new toy I bought with him, yet.

You simply patch into your USB port on your computer, read the manual, then you are ready to rip the music. It creates sound files on your computers hard drive, you can then burn.

It works on either a PC, or a Mac. You will need a Windows 98, 2000, or XP. For a Mac, OS9 and up, with USB1.1 port to plug into.

This ripping turntable by Ion?, comes with software and cords. You can set up very quickly. The turntable has three speeds. 78, 45 and 33 1/3 LP. You can rip even your grandfathers old albums with this.

I like it when something like this works well and does exactly what it is intended to do. I have no sound loss at all from converting any of the albums to digital files for burning onto my CDs.

I cut a few of my dad's favorites, for him. This really put a smile to his face. That alone made this whole purchase worthwhile.

My husband would love this. We have so many old records and it would be nice to put them onto CD's.

Who would have thought? I'm going to have to check this out. My father in law has a ton of LPs that are just gathering dust because he has come to love the CD player. This may be just the gift to get!

What a neat gadget, and I like how you gave some to your dad, I'm sure he loved getting his tunes in a "up-to-date" format!

I need this product. I have lots of vinyls left over from my college days. I can't find many songs available for purchase (local college bands) and I would love to be able to listen to them again.
